Bureau de Change or money changers

Commercial banks seem to dominate this business sector, although there are private money changers available in the city. Commercial banks open Bureau de Change booths all over the city. In the streets, shopping malls and even in the branches itself. They are just like convenience stores. You can see them almost every corner of the street/area. Rates are competitive but definitely much better than getting it in the airport. Unlike Jakarta or Kuala Lumpur, private money changers dominate this business sector. Almost all foreign currencies are accepted for exchange to Thai Baht and vice versa, provided it is available. From experience, frequent fluctuating currencies may not be accepted. So, beware and do please check with the money changers and Bureau de Change.

Automated Teller Machines (ATMs)

This is available through out the metropolitan. If you wish to withdraw from the ATMs, look at the machines and check whether the particular machine accepts the type of card you are using to make a withdrawal. Generally, they accept major credit/debit cards (VISA, MASTERCARD etc), and well known international transaction networks like PLUS, CIRRUS, MAESTRO, UNIONPAY etc.

Obviously, banks will charge various types of fees, when you make a withdrawal from your card you are using.

Going around Bangkok City

Public bus

This is operated by Bangkok Metropolitan Transport Authority (BMTA). If you can read Thai, this would be your cheapest means of travelling. The older buses, non A/C long Beige-Red Mitsubishi buses or small Green Mercedes-Benz buses do have flat rate for tickets. These buses do have a driver and a conductor who goes round to collect fares. It is just like the old days. Some of the Mitsubishi buses have wooden flooring! It is a classic. Ticket prices can be as low as THB4!

Planning your trip

Travelling to another place that is not familiar to you would require plenty of homework to be done and planning as detailed as possible. This is true, especially when you and your group, has limited budget to spend.

Unlike Jakarta, as described in previous posts, you can sum up that, moving around Bangkok is convenient and can be less expensive utilising the available means of public transportation. Bangkok is still a growing metropolitan. If you only intend to travel around by buses, taxis, private cars, and if you have plenty of time to spare, then fine.

Hygiene

Generally Thais are very hygienic. So, it should not be a problem. However, you know yourself better. So, you have to take care of yourself and be on a look out if you are sensitive to some hygiene related issues.

Public toilets are generally clean and dry and from time to time there are people from contracted/outsourced cleaning companies taking care and up keeping the cleanliness of the public toilets, especially in shopping malls. These workers are, well, quite diligent in carrying out their duty.

Travel out of Bangkok

When you have a long holiday planned out, you may want not be spending your entire time in and around Bangkok itself through out your entire time of stay.

How to go out of Bangkok?

Obviously, you can walk, run, drive, fly, etc. which ever way you wish.

As mentioned in earlier posts, on mode of transport, this is not going to be repeated.

If you intend to spend much time at the destined place outside of Bangkok, make sure you leave very early in the morning to avoid the horrendous traffic.

但是相關的經驗還是吸收一下^^

泰國曼谷跟一些觀光都市的店員會說中文是因為之前中國旅行團太多太多了
這些店員們不得以只好學一些簡單的中文跟他們應對
因為太多太多的中國人在櫃台還是用中文在對那些泰國人
點餐或是買東西...
這些店員學會的中文第一句就是"排隊排隊"
